AI Usage Ethic

I want to be transparent about how I use artificial intelligence (AI) in the marketing and content around this app.

Today, some of the videos and visuals you may see on social platforms (like TikTok, Instagram, etc.) are AI-generated: the “people” in those videos are not real individuals, but synthetic avatars created by AI tools.

This page explains why I chose this approach, the risks and concerns I see, the benefits I’m aiming for, and how you can share your opinion or suggest alternatives.

Why I Use AI-Generated Content

I have thought seriously about this decision.

  • I am a student working on this project with a very limited budget.

  • I cannot currently afford to pay real creators to regularly produce high-quality, on-camera content for the app.

  • I still need to test ideas, explain how the app works, and reach people where they are (mainly on short-form video platforms).

Given these constraints, AI gives me a way to:

  • Prototype and test different messages, hooks and formats quickly.

  • Show how the app can be used in realistic scenarios without asking anyone to appear on camera.

  • Avoid using stock footage or misleading “real people” who never actually used the product.

This is not a decision I made lightly, but it is currently the most realistic option for me to share the project with the world.

What I Do (and Don’t Do) With AI

What I do:

Use AI tools to generate avatars and faces that are not based on real identifiable individuals.

What I do not do:

I do not upload photos of real people to “re-skin” them or clone their identity for marketing.

I do not intentionally hide the fact that AI is involved. That’s why this page exists.

Risks and Ethical Concerns I See

Using AI-generated content is not neutral. There are real concerns, and I want to acknowledge them:

1. Trust and authenticity

If you see a human face speaking, it is natural to assume they are a real person, sharing their own experience. When that person is AI-generated, it can feel deceptive if this is not disclosed. That is why I want to be transparent about how content is made.

2. Erosion of human connection

Part of what makes the internet meaningful is real people talking to each other. Relying too much on AI avatars can weaken that sense of human connection and make everything feel more “manufactured” or “scripted”.

3. Unrealistic expectations

AI-generated people can look flawless, always composed, always in a perfect environment. This can reinforce unrealistic standards and make “real” creators or users feel less adequate.

4. Over-automation of communication

When AI helps generate scripts, there is a risk that messages become generic, optimized for engagement but not for honesty. I try to keep scripts simple, clear and honest, and I review them myself before using them.

5. Bias and representation

AI models are trained on large datasets that can carry biases about gender, race, age, and body type. I need to pay attention to who these avatars seem to represent and avoid reproducing stereotypes.

Benefits I Am Aiming For

Despite the risks, there are also meaningful benefits that influenced my choice:

1. Access and affordability

As a student without funding, AI allows me to create content that would otherwise be financially impossible. Without it, there would likely be almost no video content at all around the app.

2. No exploitation of real creators

I am not asking real people to work for free, appear on camera, or give their image for something that might not succeed. When I do hire real creators in the future, I want to pay them fairly.

3. Privacy and safety

Because the avatars are synthetic, I am not putting any real person’s privacy, safety, or reputation at risk through this content.

4. Faster iteration and improvement

AI helps me test different explanations, hooks, and formats quickly. This means I can learn faster which messages are clear or confusing, and improve the app experience itself.

My Current Position

After weighing these risks and benefits, I decided to:

  • Use AI-generated avatars and scripts as a temporary and pragmatic solution to explain and promote the app.

Avoid presenting AI characters as “real users” giving personal testimonials.

  • Stay open to changing this approach as the app grows, especially if I can afford to collaborate with real human creators in a fair way.

  • Be transparent, through this page and possibly additional notes, that AI is involved in the content you see.

I do not think this approach is perfect. It is a compromise, based on my current resources and my wish to communicate clearly without pretending to be something I am not.
